Role of Passenger Behavior Analysis in Airport Terminal
Airports play a substantial role in economic growth, connecting different cities and nations. A high number of passengers travel through airports annually, making airport terminals face many challenges in provision of easy and safe passenger flows. The behavior pattern of passengers and the rate of passenger arrivals and departure are affected by many factors, including flight-departure times, type of travel (business/leisure), and flight destination. Design quality of an airport terminal is among the most important factors that influence the perception, behavior and satisfaction of passengers. The objective of this paper was just to discuss different factors influencing the behavior and perceptions of the airport passengers about different aspects of an airport terminal design as well as service. Specifically, we focused on engineering aspects of an airport terminal for identifying the planning and design attributes that passengers consider as the most important, and we calibrated the models for different groups of users in order to identify the differences in passengers’ perceptions.
