Critical Obstacles of Green Building Realization in Large scale Projects
The concept of Green Buildings and its development has become a global trend intended to improve efficiency in exploitation of natural resources and the well-being of occupants. The development of practical strategies for green building implementation still encounters different obstacles, especially in developing countries. The critical success factors of green building and their relationships with obstacles and visions of designers, contractors as well as developers in large scale project in Iraq have been investigated and discussed in this study. The relationships between the awareness of individual participants in project and awareness of project design and construction team at different green building levels were also analyzed. The results revealed the underlying patterns of the overall picture of the green building industry in Iraq, and suggest that all parties involved in large scale projects should continuously improve their awareness via technical and management innovation for delivering affordable green products, thereby making green buildings more available and appealing to the public. This study provided empirical evidence for all parties involved in large scale projects to adopt appropriate team building strategies and optimally allocate their resources to achieve the suitable level of green building.
