Evolution of Innovative Concepts in Engineering Sciences and Technologies
In recent years, there has been a number of new ideas appearing in the literature concerned with the future of education and in particular for the teaching of engineering sciences and technologies. Some of these notions are novel while others are a re-imagining of existing ideas but in a new context. In most countries, especially developing ones, the most important driver of technological innovation and development is related to the quality of human capital; turning education of human resources, especially in engineering disciplines, to the foundation of innovation. Globalization of the higher education arena has also contributed to build momentum in this direction. This paper was intended to answer the questions regarding the opportunities and obstacles of approaching new methods of education and research in engineering sciences through the analysis of the existing methods in a group of academic and professional contexts involved in engineering.
